Biomedical Informatics is the scientific field that studies how to make effective use of biomedical data, information, and knowledge in support of biomedical research and human health.
Biomedical Informatics at UK has made broad strides with recent substantial informatics-related grant acquisitions and the appointment of Dr. Todd Johnson as the Director of the Biomedical Informatics Key Function and the Division of Biomedical Informatics as well as the addition of faculty member, Dr. Sujin Kim.
The Division continues to grow as we welcome our two newest faculty members. Dr. Kavuluru Ramakanth joined us in August 2011. His research interests include information extraction and knowledge discovery. In September 2011, Dr. Lin Yang will join us. His research interests include imaging informatics, information retrieval, medical image analysis, and machine learning.
The Biomedical Informatics Core (BIC) provides access to biomedical informatics expertise, technologies, and data management platforms to the UK CCTS and their investigators.
To learn more about the how the exciting field of biomedical informatics can help with your research, please join us at one of our monthly seminars or look at the page of data sets and/or application tools that can assist you.
