The university's economic impact on the Morehead area is estimated at more than $80 million yearly.

In addition to partnering with UK and SRC for shared education platforms in the health professions, Morehead State has vigorous basic science programs, supported through KF-INBRE funding, whose students have successfully entered the UK College of Medicine biomedical sciences doctoral programs.
