Scientific Advisory Committee

The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) has the responsibility for:

  • Review, approval, and oversight of all research projects requesting CCTS support;
  • Review and recommendation of pilot project applications;
  • Review of operations and performance of CSC units;
  • Providing advice on CSC policies and procedures; and,
  • Serving as institutional advocates for the CSC and CCTS.

In the Pilot Application Review process, the SAC works closely with the CATalysts and ad hoc reviewers (as needed) prior to making recommendations to the CCTS Leadership Committee, which selects applications for funding.

The Scientific Advisory Committee has 13 standing members, who serve for 2 years each. The SAC is chaired by Creed Pettigrew, MD. Members of the Scientific Advisory Committee are appointed by the Leadership Committee from principal investigators in different fields of clinical and translational science at the University of Kentucky. The committee meets monthly, on the first Friday of each month to evaluate proposals based upon scientific merit and need for Center resources.
