This program provides mentored clinical and translational research training to students in professional clinical training programs, including MD, DMD, PharmD, Public Health, Clinical Psychology, Nursing and Physician’s Assistant Programs. To be eligible, students must complete the Introduction to Clinical Research (ICR) as a summer workshop or spring semester seminar, identify a mentor and submit an application. Applications are accepted twice each year (January and April). All applicants must be in good academic standing with their respective college.
Students awarded the fellowship will receive a stipend of $3,000 to enable them to complete:
A mentored research experience linked to an ongoing faculty research project based on a detailed research training plan developed with the mentor that constitutes a ‘contract’ signed by trainee and mentor.
Experiential activities designed to provide orientation to the academic discipline of clinical and translational science and the peer-review process.
Stipends are distributed at three intervals during the 18 month fellowship period.
Eligibility: Students in professional programs in the health sciences who have completed the Introduction to Clinical Research (ICR) summer workshop or the MED815 ICR course.
To maintain eligibility, students are required to submit evaluations on their research projects prior to receiving the 2nd and 3rd disbursements of their stipend. Mentors will also be required to submit evaluations on student progress.
Application: Applicants should complete and submit the PSMRF Practicum Contract to the TEAM Education Program Assistant by the dues dates: January 31 and April 30.
