Chronic health challenges show no regard for state boundaries in Central Appalachia. Some of the nation's highest rates of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and mental health problems can be found in the region stretching across Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio and Tennessee. As the directing member of the Appalachian Translational Research Network, the UK CCTS collaborates with academic medical centers and communities throughout the region to catalyze efforts for improved wellbeing and healthcare.
