Responding to HCV among People Who Inject Drugs in the US
Dr. Peter Vickerman, D.Phil

Dr. Peter Vickerman is a Professor in infectious disease modeling at the University of

Bristol and has an honorary position at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical

Medicine. Originally trained as a mathematician, he has a D.Phil in mathematical

epidemiology and 20 years of experience in modelling infectious diseases. He leads a

group of infectious disease modellers in Bristol and London that have published more

than 200 articles in journals such as The Lancet, PLoS One, The Journal of Infectious

Diseases, AIDS, and Journal of Hepatology.

Dr. Vickerman and his group have been working with Dr. Jennifer Havens at the

University of Kentucky’s Center on Drug and Alcohol Research to model outcomes of

the US opioid epidemic since 2015.
