Health Disparity/Health Equity Pilot Awards
This collaborative pilot between the UK CCTS and the UK Center for Health Equity Transformation (CHET) will fund two awards for up to $25,000 each in total direct costs. The purpose of this funding mechanism is to support meritorious translational projects which focus on identifying, reducing and/or eliminating health disparities and promoting health equity. All applications must propose a study which examines or proposes to intervene in achieving health equity for a vulnerable population.
Eligibility
Eligibility is limited to full-time faculty (all title series including regular, research, clinical and special) at the University of Kentucky and affiliated institutions. Investigators in training including residents, post-doctoral fellows, and clinical fellows are NOT eligible to serve as PIs but may be co-investigators. Volunteer faculty and adjunct faculty are NOT eligible to serve as PIs but may be co- investigators.
Community Engagement Pilot Award
Pilot funding of up to $25,000, in total direct cost, will be made available to support one meritorious project conducted in partnership with organization(s) that serve rural Kentucky communities. The focus of the study should address a health issue of concern to the community or communities. Award duration is 12 months. A letter of support from the Director or Lead of the community organization(s) indicating agreement to collaborate is required. Proposals must have (1) a community engagement component as part of the research plan; (2) a plan for sharing research findings with members of the community or communities involved.
Areas of Emphasis:
- Proposals involving translation of knowledge into community based health or healthcare. Community engagement research focused on priority health issues in rural Kentucky communities.
- Pilot studies which generate critical preliminary data that will help to obtain extramural funding.
