The Research Mentor Recognition Awards in Clinical and Translational Science honor UK faculty members who have committed their time and expertise to guide junior faculty, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, research lab staff, or others to advance in their fields towards independent research.

The CCTS will host a two-part presentation by Dr. Sethu Reddy, vice president and head of U.S. Medical Affairs at Merck & Co., that will address drug discovery and statistical and clinical significance in clinical research.

Participating organizations will provide general education about clinical research, as well as information about what research studies (trials) are available through their programs.

The CCTS recognized four faculty mentors for their outstanding work in helping to train young scientists, at an awards ceremony at the Sixth Annual CCTS Conference.

Radu (Paul) Mihail has been selected as the first-ever Halcomb Fellow in Medicine and Engineering. He will be awarded up to $50,000 toward developing an interactive decision aid for patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Researchers at the University of Kentucky are co-sponsoring a one-day conference focused on obesity in Appalachia on April 21 at the Lexington Convention Center.
