Stoops Quoted in USA Today Article about Sober Bars

Lexington, Ky. (July 3, 2019) — Bill Stoops, PhD, director of the CCTS regulatory knowledge and support core, was interviewed for a USA Today article about the growing trend of sober bars and public gathering spaces.
Stoops, whose research focuses on the behavioral effects of drugs, is a professor in the UK College of Medicine and principal investigator of the Laboratory of Human Behavioral Pharmacology.
“We evolved as social creatures. This is a good trend if you want the experience of companionship and social culture but don’t want the negatives,” said Stoops. “It can help people make better choices.”
