Data management consultations should occur prior to the start of data collection. For more complicated study designs, data management consultation should occur prior to IRB submission. These consultations will focus on:

• evaluating data collection instruments
• validating the database
• preparing table shells
• simple database development
• creation of analysis data sets
• creation of codebooks
• creation of data dictionaries

Data management services are available through DATAQUeST (Data Quality and Statistical Programming). An initial 30 minute consultation is available at no charge. Following this initial consultation, an estimate for additional work can be provided.

Investigators are strongly encouraged to submit requests as early as possible. Preference for data management services will be given to investigators who have completed a data management consultation prior to beginning their study.
